LCDR Michael L. Campbell, NSCC Regional Director, 1-2 |
| LCDR Michael L. Campbell was born and raised in Connecticut,
Southern New England. He joined the NSCC at the age of 14 rising
to the rank of PO1. In the BARQUE EAGLE DIVISION, Hartford, CT, he sailed
onboard the USCG Eagle three times, traveled to Nova Scotia on International
Exchange, graduated from Submarine Seminar, and participated in many activities
that he only dreamed were possible. Upon graduation from High School, then MIDN Campbell transferred to the HARLAN R. DICKSON DIVISION in Manchester, NH as Assistant Training Officer. While attending Saint Anselm College with a Business Management Major, he continued to participate in numerous training activities across the country. Returning to Connecticut, LCDR Campbell spent the next twenty years with BARQUE EAGLE as Training Officer, Administration Officer, Executive Officer, and Commanding Officer. During this time, LCDR Campbell served in USS Simpson (FFG 56), USS Louisiana (SSN 743), USS Miller (FF 1091), USCGC Eagle (WIX 327), exchanges to the United Kingdom and Japan, and numerous other ships and training sites. In 1998, he was named Director, International Exchange Program with the mission of directing all International Programs and consolidating mission and policy. In 1998, he attended Information Officer training at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis Maryland and qualified as a Blue and Gold Officer. As Associate Regional Director for 1-2, LCDR Campbell served the region in a variety of tasks, including organizing area leadership seminars and weekend training activities. In April 2000, Mr. Campbell relieved LCDR George S. Dimock as Regional Director for Southern New England. LCDR Campbell holds the Chairman's Ribbon, Distinguished Service Ribbon, Meritorious Recognition Ribbon, and Citation Ribbon along with 12 other ribbon awards. An avid mountaineer, he has stood on the summits of the Matterhorn in Switzerland, Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, The Grand Teton in Wyoming, and Mt. Fuji in Japan as well as hundreds of other peaks around the world. He has traveled to over 30 countries worldwide and is presently the Chief Delegate for the International Sea Cadet Association conference. He is presently the National Development Director for the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps and serves as Area President of Connecticut for the Navy League of the US. He was named Regional Director of the Year in 2004 and resides in Canton, Connecticut with his wife Rie. |
